With a shudder passing through his back, Brackenwisp lay just outside of the warriors den. There was a thick coating of snow surrounding him but his stubborn side urged him to stay outside despite the temperature. It was silent for the most part, the Clan cats all nestled up in their mossbeds, the only sound coming from them was their whispering snores. His eyes were delicately shut but his ears were tilted outwards, prepared to sense any approaching danger. Brackenwisp wasn't actually on guard for the camp but rather he was feeling a little too warm in the safety of the warriors' den. Of course it wasn't quite nice outside either but he would rather be a little cold than to be overheating. Someone had suggested the thought that he might be catching a cold but he insisted against it.

Inside the warriors den, a tortoiseshell pelt rose and fell with the steady pace of a she-cats breathing. The young warriors pelt bristled as her breathing quickened. A chill was sent up her spine as the cold found it's way to her skin. Amber eyes flickered open and wide pupils searched her surroundings. Blinking, she rose her head and peered out of the den, another cat was out there. Brackenwisp. It was nothing to worry about really, he was probably too hot in the den with the rest of the warriors. In the summer it was terrible for this, and was always cramped. Sitting up she arched her back into a stretch and opened her jaws into a yawn. White fangs stood out from the rest of the she-cats dark body. She shook the moss off of her body and sat down to lick a paw. 'You're up early, Brackenwisp.'

Lifting his head upward, Brackenwisp acknowledged the arrival his fellow clanmate. "Hello Mossfur," The tom dipped his head slightly in greeting. "It was getting too stuffy in the warrior's den." He noted, his tail flitting back and forth across the uneven ground. "Plus I figure if I get up early enough I can reach the good hunting spots before they are all taken up." Brackenwisp lifted his mouth up in the outline of a grin. "You maybe want to tag along?" He suggested, figuring it would be a nice way to get to know her. The warrior knew most of the other Shadowclan cats but he hadn't spent too much time getting to Mossfur and it was always nice if you knew who your clanmates were.

Grayfire
The gray tabby slipped through the camp's entrance, a tiny mouse hanging from his jaws. It was all he could catch, and he had been out for a while now. He spotted Brackenwisp talking with Mossfur, and padded over, dropping off the scrawny piece of fresh-kill in the dwindling pile. For a moment, he imagined it was Greenleaf, and that the pile was overflowing. Plump blackbirds and squirrels...Grayfire snapped out of it. Bounding through the thin layer of snow towards the other two cats, his green eyes glimmered. The warrior blinked a warm welcome, despite the cold weather. "What's going on?" he asked, curiously.

Mossfur's amber eyes glittered in the pale light. She didn't know this cat either, and thought it good to have friends in her own clan. She understood why the warrior would get too hot in the warriors den, it was a bit crowded. She looked up as the warrior mentioned hunting. A small growl escaped her belly, she was hungry! I could really do with a mouse right now. she thought; 'I'd love too!' she meowed, before walking out of the den to shake her fur once again. The snow was a shock to her warm paws, and she didn't expect the bite that snapped her paws. 'Oh!' She danced on her paws a little before getting used to the chill a bit. Another noise caught her ear, and the scent of mouse wafted into her nose giving her the realization of how hungry she really was. She lifted her tail as the other warrior approached. 'Good morning, Grayfire,' she said plainly, not intending to come across rude. 'Brackenwisp and I were just about to go hunting, how is the prey running this morning? If it is at all...'

Grayfire
"You're pretty close about that. I've been hunting for a while now, and that tiny mouse was all I caught." He paused. "Sometimes I think the prey is smarter than us cats--they're still sleeping in cozy dens instead of running around in the freezing cold," Grayfire joked. He shook some of the loose snow off his fur, and his amber eyes glimmered.

Brackenwisp flashed Mossfur a small grin, excited to have company for hunting. Sometimes having another cat come along didn't work out because they would accidentally scare the prey but he figured Mossfur probably was more cautious about it. A small chuckle passed up through his throat as the other warrior danced about on her paws, shying away from the cold a little bit. Jumping up to his paws, Brackenwisp greeted Grayfire with a small dip of his head. "I agree with you there, Grayfire. It's a conspiracy amongst the prey" He meowed lightly, trying to keep the mood upbeat despite the unwelcome weather. [/blockquote]

The she cat stretched her jaws into a yawn again, stretching her paws out before her. Her tail curling over to touch her head as she arched her back into a good stretch, before arising again to shake her fur. Her belly made a small rumbling noise as she was reminded yet again of her hunger. yes, O K! she told herself, before she looked over to brackenwisp, letting a mrrow of amusement of the idea of prey being smarter than the hunter. 'We should get going then, if i even get a scrawny mouse I'll be happy!' She took a few paces towards the entrance before looking over her shoulder at the other cat.
